Three Jharkhand Congress MLAs detained with Rs 49.8 crore in West Bengal; Congress accuses BJP

Police in West Bengal's Howrah district on July 31 seized "a huge amount of cash" from a car in which three Congress MLAs from Jharkhand were travelling, leading to allegations of political "horse-trading". The three MLAs have been detained for questioning about the source of the money. Meanwhile, the party has suspended all three MLAs. Acting on a tip-off, police on July 30 had intercepted an SUV in which Congress MLAs Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachchap, and Naman Bixal Kongari were travelling on National Highway-16 at Ranihati in Howrah and allegedly found a huge amount of cash in the vehicle.
