Islamabad Blasts a Warning From Militants: Police

ISLAMABAD: The twin bombings in the Pakistani capital were a warning by militants against a military operation in North Waziristan that killed more than 80 rebels, a media report said Sunday.

"The terrorists wanted to warn the government to get ready for more brutal acts of terrorism in the city against the killing in North Waziristan," Dawn online quoted a police officer as saying.

The police have said that booby-trapped improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were used in Islamabad for the first time. The explosions, at two markets. killed one person and injured another.
