Suicide Bombings Kill Six in Baghdad

AMMAN: At least six people were killed and 21 wounded Saturday when a suicide bomber exploded himself at a popular restaurant in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Xinhua reported.

The attack occurred early in the day in New Baghdad district. The toll could rise as ambulances and police vehicles evacuated the casualties to nearby hospitals and medical centres.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but the Islamic State terrorist group, in most cases, is responsible for such suicide attacks in the country.

Iraq has been gripped by some of the worst violence and terrorist attacks in years, killing at least 12,282 civilians and injuring 23,126 in 2014, the deadliest year since the flare-up of sectarian violence in 2006-07, a UN report said.
