12 Killed in Suicide Bomb Attack on Afghan Army Recruits

JALALABAD: At least 12 people were killed and dozens wounded today when a suicide bomber attacked a bus carrying Afghan army recruits near the eastern city of Jalalabad, officials said.

"In the attack, 12 army recruits were killed and 38 others were wounded," said Ataullah Khogyani, spokesman for Nangarhar province.

Ehsansullah Shinwari, head of a regional hospital in the province, confirmed the attack but put the death toll at 13.
