G7 finance ministers now on conference call over Brexit: Germany

BERLIN: Finance ministers and top central bankers from the Group of Seven industrial powers are currently conferring over Britain's decision to leave the European Union, a German finance ministry spokesman said Friday.

"We had hoped for another result from this referendum, but we were prepared for this result," said Martin Jaeger, adding that "a telephone conference of G7 ministers and central bank governors is currently taking place."

A statement may be issued following the talks, the spokesman added.
