Two school buildings collapse by earthquake in Nepal

Earthquake of magnitude 5 and three other smaller tremors shook western Nepal yesterday, causing panic among residents.

KATHMANDU: At least two school buildings in Nepal have been damaged following an earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale hit Bajhang district, officials said today.

Four rooms of a hostel of the Dasharath Higher Secondary School in Aantichaur-5 were completely destroyed. Other 12 classrooms of the building sustained minor damages in yesterday's quake. However, nobody was injured in the incident, according to the Nepal Police.

The Parbati Secondary School in Kailashmandu-9 of the same area has also sustained partial damage after the quake.

Two tremors of above 4 magnitude and two others above magnitude 3 were recorded in Bajhang district, 650 kilometres west of Kathmandu, according to the National Seismological Centre (NSC).
