Of all things, light and beautiful

You can’t open a design magazine without reading about some trend or the other. It could be a certain style, colour or material, or it could be them all. Because the truth is, the world of interiors has gone eclectically global. Design does not need to be one-dimensional or follow any specific genre of influence anymore. Contrasting elements and periods make up the most interesting homes these days, where you can see a Victorian printed wallpaper acting as a backdrop for Lucite furniture just as easily as a Barcelona chair sitting on an antique Kashmiri silk carpet that the householder got from his grandmother’s home. For those who want to mix and match and who like their furniture orderly but weightless, here are some modern pieces to think about:

Ormond Coffee Table
The Ormond coffee table, being marketed by Urban Ladder, is a compact one that can be placed alongside a new-age accent chair as easily as a traditional sofa. The table top is made of MDF with matte painting and the legs are in beech wood with powder coated metal frames. The table can take a weight of up to 30 kg. The Urban Ladder team assembles the product at you home on delivery. Price: `3,399.

Nardi Bar Chair by Patios
Nardi, the Italian outdoor furniture brand, has been brought to India by Patios, a manufacturer of outdoor furniture and accessories. The latest offerings (no doubt with Valentine’s Day in mind) include a selection of red chairs and tables. The Lido-Rosso Bar Chair featured here is stackable. It is made of uniformly coloured fiberglass polypropylene resins with UV additives and boasts non-slip feet and a matt finish. Price: Rs 7,490.

Revolver Acrylic Occasional Table
This versatile table is the brainchild of Alexandra Von Furstenberg. Designed with an elegant “X” base frame, it can be bought as a pair to use as side tables next to the bed in the master or guest bedroom. The designer also recommends its use as a base for setting up a bar on or as an end table between chairs, or inside a bathroom to display your perfume bottles. Because of its versatility in functions and modern yet classic design, this acrylic table can be used across any home. Dimensions: 26”w  x 27”d  x 25h”. Price: $7,200.
