With a mission to make modern and affordable design-led furniture available to the urban-minded customer, Denmark’s iconic furniture brand BoConcept is set to host its maiden Design Week from July 22 to 30 at their store on M G Road, Gurgaon.

The nine-day trade show will be an alliance of four affordable luxury brands as a celebratory event marking BoConcept’s foray into the Indian market. The participating brands include Bang & Olufsen, Delhi Art Gallery (DAG) Modern, and Klove Studio. A first by a Danish affordable luxury store in India, the platform seeks to bring together three other like-minded brands under one roof that complement BoConcept’s design sensibilities.

Navin Khanna, Director, BoConcept India, says, “The Design Week is going to depict the home of the well-travelled Indian who is aware of international designs and wants a concept-oriented space which reflects his/her personality.” The genesis of the concept sprang from a conversation on brands having similar customer demographics to ‘synergise design solutions under one roof’.

The week will act as a one-stop exquisite centre where one can experience the works of a modern artist from DAG in a Scandinavian setting from BoConcept with the best sound system by Bang & Olufsen under the dramatic installations by Klove Studio. The aim is to cultivate a unique melange of cultures—more so of a fusion between the Indian and the Western. “Design and art cohabit in the same space and collaborations make sense, especially in guiding people about how art needs to be viewed not in isolation but as part of a lived or working space,” says Kishore Singh, President, DAG Modern.

As part of its product range, the week will offer coordinated and customised furniture along with accessories for lounge, bedroom, kitchen, dining and outdoor. Inspired from the ideas of Bauhaus modernism and the Danish design movement, the furniture flaunts straight but angular features, clean lines, defined cuts and edges, virtually becoming pieces of sculpture.

The BoConcept Design Week will provide an entrepreneurial landscape to link the industry and design. From the vintage lighting approach to the multi-functional furniture design, coupled with an eclectic mix of art, fabrics and woodwork, these sacred spaces certainly exude special energies, touching the mind, body and soul.
