Cartier’s bold Résonances collection looks to usher in a brave new world
Future of fantasy

The house of Cartier is known to create exceptional jewels for strong women and its new Résonances collection continues this tradition with a collection of powerful, one-of-a-kind statement. What makes this collection stand out is the fact that while it honours the maison’s rich Art Deco past, it also looks boldly to the future with extraordinarily eclectic and abstract motifs.

Inspired by the waves of light or ripples of colour that a gemstone emits when it catches the light, or the sharp-edged flashes of fire a diamond throws out, each design is an echo of the beautiful stone it has captured. Extremely contemporary and remarkably cutting edge, each piece is defined by strong graphic lines. The names alone conjure up a futuristic planet where Twisting Light, Carbonado and Hyperbole shine out their eternal light.

In keeping with the current trend of transformable jewellery, here tiaras transform into necklaces and necklaces deconstruct to become brooches. And, with a flick of the wrist, a bracelet changes its colours from lapis lazuli to shimmering diamonds, thanks to dozens of hinged double-sided discs that flip back and forth with every move.

Resonances de Cartier comprises over 100 pieces in a truly eclectic variety of styles and materials. There are major diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies, of course, but also carved smoky quartz, gold-flecked blue lapis lazuli, vibrant fire opals, watery green beryls and even deep purple sugilite.
