Searching for Eve in the elements of nature

The collection has been brought to life using the 3-D elements with motifs of fruits, flowers and serpents in vibrant colours and combinations.

The  story of Adam and Eve, intrigues us all at different levels. Taking a step forward, designer Deepa Gurnani who recently her launched fall jewellery collection, titled, Seduction, plays with her imagination, celebrating the elements that tempted Eve. It was her fascination with nature and its amazing creations that initiated this collection. “Nature’s creation is awe-inspiring.

We have tried to replicate that fascination by being extremely detail oriented in all our creations. For seduction, this season we have tried to capture even the minutest detail in every piece. Fruits, flowers and snakes are key pieces in this collection. We have used sharp and brilliant colours and contrasts that enhance the beauty of every piece,” shares Gurnani.

The collection has been brought to life using the 3-D elements with motifs of fruits, flowers and serpents in vibrant colours and combinations. “We strictly adhere to the famous words of Lao Tzu, ‘Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.’ We spend hours creating our pieces. From getting the shape accurate to making sure that the correct colours are used, every tiny detail is meticulously researched,” says Gurnani, who researched various interpretations to understand what Eve may have experienced.

Ever since her childhood, Gurani admired everything that was hand-made. “She hasn’t changed much,” shares Jay Lakhani, Gurani’s better half, adding, “Whilst studying at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, Deepa beaded couture pieces for the likes of Alexander McQueen, Emanuel Ungaro, Fendi, to name a few. It not only enabled Deepa to understand couture standards of quality and finish, but also compelled her to experiment with new beading and embroidery techniques. Combining this experience with her own style and sensibility inspired her to create her own line.”
