Fendi’s new leather bag collection for men comes laced with a wry sense of humour
For blokes who like a joke

This year, Fendi’s men’s bags get a touch of wacky Brit wit. This comes in the form of illustrations by Sue Tilley, a British guest artist, chosen by the brand to collaborate in the Fendi Men’s Spring/Summer 2018 Collection. From boston bags to flat pouches, the maison’s new range is peppered by Tilley’s artworks through different kind of workmanship.

“Sue Tilley has been working on everyday objects that are normally on everyone’s desk such as a telephone, a banana and a lamp. I like the idea of using common objects because I think you can bring fantasy and creativity in any aspect of life. For the future we are going to use them in many aspects of our work because things are changing, but fantasy and creativity are something really linked to human beings and it’s the only thing that can’t be replaced,” said the brand’s boss, Silvia Venturini Fendi, in a statement.

The pop and ironic attitude of Tilley’s works meet refined Selleria Cuoio Romano leather—created with the expertise of Fendi artisans inherited from the Roman master saddlers—on statement pieces and new shapes for men, all available in a classic colour palette of black, blue, grey and brown. The iconic Men’s Peekaboo hides a hand-painted maxi cup of tea or a green rotary phone that surprisingly adorn the internal frame of the bag.

The newly arrived Peekaboo Fit Mini—the new size of the Peekaboo for men, perfect to carry your high-tech tablet and work essentials—is decorated with a banana peel or a vintage set of keys, created with a multi-layer inlay of leather that further showcases the Maison’s savoir-faire.

A desk lamp and a cocktail glass are inlaid and stitched on practical shopper bags and flat pouches that with their minimalist and lightweight design perfectly embody the weekend-office feel of the collection. Completing the offer, an all-over micro print of Tilley’s artworks—including a glossy red corkscrew and a vase of pink tulips—gives a playful attitude to Boston bags and clutches in different shapes.

With the expert craftsmanship of the maison and a touch of fun, emblem of the FendiDNA, the new array of leather goods featuring the ordinary objects by Tilley are the perfect companion for the Fendi man who always has an eye for detail, high-quality materials and, of course, a touch of  irony. Available in all Fendi boutiques worldwide and on fendi.com.
