Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel on Thursday put out a picture from an art gallery on his Twitter handle of two women-- one in a hijab and another cowering inside a cage.
He tagged 'Dangal' star Zaira Wasim and said, "This painting tells a story similar to @zairawasim, पिंजरा तोड़ कर हमारी बेटियां बढ़ने लगी हैं आगे (Our daughters are breaking the cages and coming forward) | More power to our daughters!"
However, Zaira, who is already embroiled in controversies after her meet with J&K CM Mufti, did not take to the minister's comparison lightly.
In a series of tweets on Friday, Zaira told Goel he should not connect her to such a "discourteous depiction".
Later, Goel responded saying she had wrongly interpreted his tweets and wished her all the best.
