Recommend Government to dissolve State Assembly: Congress to KCR

As soon as KCR threw down the gauntlet to the Opposition asking it to get ready for the early elections, Congress leaders announced that they were ready for early polls.

HYDERABAD: Accepting the challenge thrown down by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Congress asked him to recommend the Governor to dissolve the State Assembly paving the way for the conduct of early poll in the State.

As soon as KCR threw down the gauntlet to the main opposition party asking it to get ready for the early elections, party leaders like Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar announced that their party was ready to face the elections if they were held before the usual time.

“If the CM has guts to go for early polls, he should immediately convene the State Cabinet and recommend to the Governor to dissolve the House facilitating early elections,” Venkat Reddy and Prabhakar demanded while addressing media separately on Sunday evening.

Venkat Reddy said he would be writing a letter to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi requesting him to direct Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) leadership to make a statement asking the CM to stick to his challenge.

Against this backdrop, TPCC leadership hold its State executive meeting here on Monday to chalk out its future course of action. Besides AICC State affairs in-charge RC Khuntia, other three newly appointed AICC secretaries to the state too will take part in the meeting. Meanwhile, TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said if his party came to power, it would ensure that victims of Agrigold were fully reimbursed.

Addressing a meeting of Agrigold victims at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday, Uttam said lakhs of investors were duped by Agrigold and the Congress would be at the forefront to help them get their money back from the company. Party MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy demanded why the State government had been silent on the issue while Andhra Pradesh government stood by the victims there.
