WARANGAL: The selection of candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections has left many second-rung leaders in the TRS unhappy in Warangal district.  The TRS leaders who have been with the party since its inception and got raw deal this time because of the allotment of tickets to turncoats is causing a lot of heartburn among them.

“It is very sad that people against whom we fought for years are now dictating and even humiliating us,” decried a TRS leader from Parkal, who has been with the party since its inception.  They have now been nominated for various Assembly constituencies in the upcoming polls. Take the case of Palakurthi assembly segment represented by Erabelli Dayakar Rao.

He contested on TDP ticket in 2014 and crossed over to TRS later on. Since Rao was renominated, the local TRS cadre who fought against him during last elections are now forced to campaign for him, a large number of whom have already refused to do so.  T Ravinder Rao, who was expecting Palakurthi ticket, has also started a negative campaign against Rao.

In Parkal, the sitting MLA Challa Dharma Reddy, who won the seat on a TDP ticket and crossed over to TRS,  is also facing a problem from the local cadre. Many senior TRS leaders in Warangal district have admitted that they were humiliated while working under deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari, who was a TDP-defecter.

In the ST-reserved Dornakal Assembly represented by Congress-defecter DS Redya Naik, a lot of senior leaders are expressing reservation over campaigning for him. In Station Ghanpur, TRS leaders and workers have already launched a massive campaign demanding the party candidate T Rajaiah’s replacement. It remains to be seen how the peculiar situation, is addressed by the high command ahead of the Assembly polls.
