Feel-good Flavour with Freshers as the Lead

It depicts the happenings in the life of a youngster and how he overcomes his inadequacies and makes a success of his personal and professional life. Directed by debutant Karthik Ravi, it has a team of freshers playing the lead. The director has managed to infuse a feel-good flavour throughout, extracted decent performances from his cast and tried to strike a different chord.

The film touches on gender relationships and the urban-rural divide, through the journey of a youngster Krishna.

Working for ‘Connection Stores’, which deals with various consumer products, Krishna intended to reach them to a wider market. His innovative idea included creating a demand for the products in villages, encouraging the villagers to have their own manufacturing units and become self-sufficient. But he has to face opposition from his seniors, his laid-back attitude and his not keeping to schedules working against him. The ups and downs in his professional life have a parallel in his love life too, with his relationship with Sandhya, his newfound love not a smooth one. The evolving of the relationship between the duo and the fallout are all worked out impressively.

The narrative style reminds one of Jeeva. Debutant Geethan as Krishna has a charming screen presence, essays Krishna neatly, lending the right nuances to the character. Haritha as Sandhya the serious service-minded doctor on an assignment to the village, has the right blend of talent and appeal. Her expressive face makes many a moment memorable.

What goes against the film is its low, leisurely pace. Also there could have been more clarity in the scenes where Krishna pitches his innovative ideas to his office colleagues and to the villagers.

There is no paucity of ideas here. It’s in translating them on to screen that the screenplay and narration falters. However, it’s a well-intentioned film, with the director making a sincere effort to strike away from the beaten path.
