DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of disrupting Parliament and believing that the country should function according to his wishes.
Speaking during a visit to Haridwar, Dhami alleged that Gandhi’s “frustration and disappointment” were steadily growing because the political establishment was no longer functioning as per the Congress leader’s expectations. “Rahul Gandhi has not been able to free himself from the feudal mindset with which he was born. He thinks Parliament and the country should run according to his wishes,” the Chief Minister said.
Dhami alleged that some political leaders had long considered power their “birthright” and were now unsettled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. “Things are no longer happening according to those who considered ruling the country their birthright. Narendra Modi, who comes from an ordinary family, is running the country efficiently,” he said.
The Chief Minister claimed that the Union government was working for every section of society and that India’s stature had risen globally under Modi. “India is earning recognition across the world. This is why such leaders are distressed. The entire country can see their frustration and desperation,” Dhami added.
Responding to a question about Gandhi’s alleged role in an ongoing agitation in Jharkhand, Dhami said the Congress leader should have avoided visiting the area at such a sensitive time. “He should not have gone there on such an occasion. He is gathering students at different places,” Dhami alleged, without elaborating.
Asked about BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari’s call for sealing the border to curb infiltration in West Bengal, Dhami said voters were increasingly backing “double-engine” BJP governments. “Wherever elections are being held, governments practising appeasement politics are being voted out,” he said.
Dhami also claimed that several long-pending development projects were now being implemented and that government decisions were no longer being driven by appeasement considerations.
Earlier, Dhami attended the 51st Nirvan Diwas programme at Bandi Chhod Shri Brahmniwas Ashram on Sapt Sarovar Road in Haridwar. Paying tribute to Brahmalin Bhuri Wale Maharaj, he said religious institutions and saints had consistently played a vital role in preserving India’s faith, culture and national values.
“One reaches such sacred places only with the blessings of the Sadguru. By dedicating their lives to the service of others, spiritual masters have shown society the path of service and nation-building,” Dhami said.
