It took a long time coming, but there’s finally good news for Noritake fans. The world-renowned Japanese tableware brand has now launched its flagship showroom in Delhi. Though it did have a retail network across the capital and the country through various small distributors, the company had no dedicated store presence until now.
Now, spread over 1,000 sq feet in Defence Colony, Noritake’s premium tabletop range is being showcased in all its glory in collaboration with its north, west and east India brand partner, Ekani, a leading importer and distributor of dinnerware and glassware.
To mark the India launch, Noritake, known for its core tradition, distinctive designs, innovative technology and superior product quality, has also launched an exclusive line for the Indian market encompassing new designs in both white porcelain and bone china called the Heart Collection. Inspiration for this collection has been drawn from India’s rich heritage—collection names, colours and designs are all a reflection of Indian elements.
While growing as an internationally famous tableware brand, Noritake has continuously cultivated and accumulated various ceramic-manufacturing techniques, such as “grinding,” “kneading,” “moulding,” “firing” and “printing.” Examples of all of this can be seen in the new store.
Speaking at the launch, Kozo Kato, Noritake, senior managing executive officer (president of tabletop division), said: “Noritake has been bringing beauty and quality to dining table around the world for more than 110 years. We believe the Indian market is one of the most important markets and we are planning to develop the designs and items suitable for Indians. Our Noritake tableware is the symbol of the happy family so we would like to see many Indian people use it at home.”
Saurabh Garg, director of Ekaani, said, “It is a pleasure to be associated with such a world-renowned brand and to represent its retail business in India. Visits to the Noritake plant and witnessing their strict quality standards and controls make one realise why Noritake is what it is today. Our endeavour will be to bring a Noritake to every Indian home.”
