IF you love seafood, this is one festival you should not miss. The Seafood Fest at The Woods Manor on MG Road is drawing crowds with its variety and authenticity.

The menu is indeed elaborate. Chinese and Kerala specialities rule the a la carte menu.

“We didn’t want to stick to a single style of preparation.People have different tastes.

If some like seafood in Chinese style, others may prefer it grilled or even in continental style,” says Denny Davis, executive chef of the hotel.

They have opened a live counter to showcase different varieties of fish, including lobster and squid. You can select the fish you want and order your choice of preparation.

To start with we had Yangtze soup, a Chinese preparation with shredded vegetables and a mixture of squid, prawns and other seafood varieties. “This soup is not only tasty but healthy too,” said Denny. Itdid have a refreshingly new taste and we loved it. Then we had seer fish ajwani, a tandoori starter. It was simply delicious and again a healthy preparation.

For the main course we had medium prawns in black bean sauce, a Peking style of preparation which was irresistible. We had it along with squid fried rice and Hunan noodles, both Chinese preparations.

The squid fried rice was tasty though not spicy. The Hunan noodles was very spicy as it was garnished with dried red chillies and tangy sauce. We enjoyed it for its taste was different from that of the usual Chinese preparations.

We ended the lunch with chef Denny’s signature dish - karimeen pollichathu. “I have used fresh pepper soaked in vinegar and shallots for this dish,” said the chef.

What we would love to have again is Yangtse soup and seer fish ajwani. You can try out a lot more from the menu such as squid ularthiyathu, crab roast or pollichathu or pomfret sizzler.

There are different seafood platters as well _ continental seafood platter, Chinese seafood platter and mixed cuisine seafood platter with braised pomfret, masala fried fish, grilled fish, golden fried prawns and a lot more.

The food fest is on for lunch and dinner.

For the dinner you can enjoy live music with your choice of fresh seafood delights.

The fest is on till February 8.
