With new 44,684 COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, India's total cases surged to 87,73,479, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said on Saturday.

With 520 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the toll mounts to 1,29,188.

The total number of active cases stand at 4,80,719 after a decrease of 3,828 in the last 24 hours. Total discharged cases stand at 81,63,572 with 47,992 new discharges in the last 24 hours.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 12,40,31,230 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to November 13 with 9,29,491 samples being tested on Friday.

    The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 4,518 as 11 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said on Saturday. Of the 11 new cases, six have travel history, while five were detected during contact tracing, the official said.

    The Union territory has 153 active COVID-19 cases while 4,304 have recovered from the disease, he said. The archipelago has so far reported 61 COVID-19 deaths.

    The Nagaland government has decided to impose a fine of Rs 100 on people who don't wear face masks in public places and Rs 500 on institutions without handwashing facilities with immediate effect, an official said on Saturday.

    Jharkhand reports 288 new COVID-19 cases, four fresh fatalities

    Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally mounted to 1,05,781 as 288 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said on Saturday. Four new fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 921, he said.

    The fresh deaths were reported from Ranchi, Bokaro, Ramgarh and East Singhbhum. Ranchi district reported the highest number of new cases at 84, followed by Bokaro (45), East Singhbhum (29) and Dhanbad (26), the official said.

    The state now has 3,291 active COVID-19 cases, while 1,01,569 people have been cured of the disease so far, he said. Jharkhand has tested 22,269 samples for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, he added.

    Agra witnesses surge in new Covid cases

    The continuing surge in Covid-19 cases in Agra for the past 10 days has alarmed the district health administration which had briefly heaved a sigh of relief in October.

    In the last 24 hours, 83 fresh cases were reported. The death toll has gone up to 155. The total number of cases so far is 8,085, according to District Magistrate P.N. Singh. The number of active cases is 595.

    Bihar reports 581 new COVID-19 cases, seven more deaths

    Bihar's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,26,080 as 581 more people tested positive for the infection, while seven fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,174, a health department bulletin said on Friday.

    At least 870 people were cured of the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 2,18,828, it said.

    Himachal Pradesh reports 825 fresh COVID-19 cases

    Himachal Pradesh reported 11 more COVID-19 fatalities taking the death toll in the state on Friday to 417, while 825 new cases pushed the infection tally to 29,009. Of the fresh fatalities, three were reported from Shimla, two from Kullu and one each from Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Bilaspur, Lahaul-Spiti and Hamirpur, according to the state health department data. As many as 239 patients recovered from the disease on Friday, pushing the total number of recoveries to 21,824.
