PATNA: A 25-year-old man in Bihar’s Samastipur district was beheaded on Friday allegedly by the three sons of former minister and RJD leader Ramashray Sahni following a heated argument over a long-running property dispute.

Police said the headless body of Jagdish Sahni was found in a sweet corn field close to Jamuar river in Bhamrupur village. Mufassil police station SHO Sachindra Singh said the victim’s head was yet to be traced. “He was identified with the help of his clothes. He seems to have been beheaded with some sharp-edged weapon,” he added.

An FIR was lodged against six people, including the RJD leader’s three sons – Mukesh, Sunil and Abhishek – based on the statement of the victim’s father. While these three men, described by police as the prime accused, were absconding soon after the murder, one accused, Suresh Mahto, was arrested.

“The victim, a poor daily-wage labourer, is said to have been violently attacked after a heated argument. The FIR was lodged based on his mother’s statement. We are conducting raids to arrest the three main accused,” said DSP (Sadar) Mohammad Tanvir.
