ED gets order to take possession of attached properties of former drug controller YK Jaiswal

PATNA: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has received confirmation from Adjudicating Authority for possession of attached movable and immovable properties of the former Bihar drug controller valued at around Rs 1.13 crore.

The ED had attached the properties of former state drug controller Y K Jaiswal in his name and that of his family valued at Rs 1.13 crore in March this year.

But, it got the confirmation from Adjudicating Authority under PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) last week, sources in the ED office said here today.

"After the order from the Adjudicating Authority now the ED can now take possession of the attached properties of the officer," they said.

The attached immovable properties includes 5 plots of land at Varanasi, one house and one shop at Boring Road in Patna, and one shop at Hariniwas complex at Dakbungalow Road also in the city, the sources said.

The moveable properties include several bank fixed deposits, life insurance policies and investment in share markets, they said.

"These properties are acquired in the name of Y K Jaiswal, his wife, son and daughters," they added.

An FIR was lodged against Y K Jaiswal in 2007 the then state drug controller of Bihar for amassing wealth disproportinate to his known source of income.

During investigation by ED it was found that huge amount of wealth earned by corrupt means haD been laundered by Jaiswal to acquire moveable and immovable properties, the sources said.
