Six killed, another injured by lightning in Bihar

According to a report from Saharsa, four people including three children were killed when lightning struck them at different places in the district.

PATNA: At least six people were charred to death and another injured when lightning struck them in the districts of Saharsa, Samastipur and Khagaria today.

According to a report from Saharsa, four people including three children were killed when lightning struck them at different places in the district.

Simri Bakhiyarpur`s sub-divisional officer said that two children-Manish (10) and Avinash (08) were killed when lightning struck them at Kadua village.

In another incident, a 10 year girl Renu Kumari (10) was charred to death when lightning struck her at Turki village.

Mr Kumar said that in another incident, one Ram Sagar (17) was killed when lightning fell on him at Gospur village under Salkhua police station area.

He said that all bodies had been sent to Saharsa Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.

He said that an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh would be paid to family members of each deceased.

According to a report from Samastipur, one Mukesh Mahto (16) was killed on the spot and Ashish Kumar (14) critically injured when lightning struck them at Gohi Rahua village under Warisnagar police station area.

The injured had been admitted to the primary health centre at Warisnagar.

According to a report from Khagaria, one Bittu Kumar was killed when lightning fell on him at Sarsawa village under Mansi police station area.

Police said that the youth had taken cattle heads to a field near his residence for grazing when the mishap took place.
