NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday described the Maharashtra mandate for the NDA as a victory of “development, good governance and social justice.” Speaking after a landslide for the BJP and its allies in MahaYuti at the party headquarters, he said mandate in Maharashtra has put a seal of approval for the BJP’s governance model, saying that when it came to ‘sushasan” (good governance), people trust only in BJP and NDA.

Describing Maharashtra results as a defeat of lies, Modi said: “Divisive, negative and dynastic politics has been defeated,” adding that Congress attempts to divide the society in the names of caste, religions and regions have failed.

“Internal disgruntlement within the Congress is growing as why only a single family is allowed to lead the party. No dedicated worker wants to work in Congress. The Congress is a party that serves only a family, not the people of the country,” Modi said. “The party that doesn’t treat the people as a priority becomes a danger to democracy,” he said. “India faces a challenge of urban naxals belonging to Congress. We all have to remain alert and cautious against Congress designs,” he added.

The PM also called Congress ‘parjivi’’ (parasite) which is unable to form a government in its own in states. On Waqf Board, he said the Congress created it as an arrangement for appeasement to grow its vote bank. He alleged that Congress in Delhi handed out many properties to Waqf Board, destroying the essence of social justice.

“There was a time when Indira Gandhi spoke against casteism. Now the same Congress and its family is spreading poison of casteism. They have throttled social justice in the country,” he said.

Speaking about the results, he said, “Maharashtra is the sixth state in the country that has given mandate to the BJP, a third time after Goa, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and, MP. In Bihar too, people have given mandate to NDA for a third time. This is the people’s trust in our ‘sushasan’ and we do everything to keep the people’s trust in us,” he said.

He said that Maharashtra is a growth engine. “The state will be the foundation for Viksit-Bharat and also become a basis of realisation of the resolve of Viksit Bharat, Modi said.

“Congress had the opportunity to serve Marathi language, but it did nothing. But our government gave the status of classical language to Marathi,” he said.

He attacked the INDIA bloc, saying its allies continued to underestimate the wisdom of voters.
