Four candidates each were elected from BJP and JD (U), one candidate was elected from LJP (RV). From the Opposition camp, RJD candidate won the election.
Sources added that if Nitish does not relinquish his membership in the Legislative Council, his membership in the Rajya Sabha will automatically stand terminated.
As no other nomination papers were filed for the post, Nitish was elected unopposed after the withdrawal deadline concluded on Tuesday. He has been re-elected for the 2025-28 term.
The assembly elections are being carried out after the SIR of electoral rolls, which now has 7.24 crore voters across the state, about 60 lakh less than the size before the exercise was undertaken.
