Villagers claimed this was not an isolated incident, as pregnant women and other critically-ill patients also face immense hardship in reaching hospitals because of the lack of an all-weather road.
Sources at Hemgir community health centre (CHC) said since May 22, Nuadihi village has reported 59 cases including two deaths. The CHC now has a total of nine patients and all are stable.
Sources said the students consumed fermented rice (pakhala), mashed potatoes and mango chutney in the morning. Soon after eating, several students complained of loose motion and vomiting.
