KOCHI: The Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Tuesday extended judicial custody of actor Dileep, who was arrested in the Malayalam actress assault case, to August 8. The remand proceedings were conducted through video conferencing.

The decision came as the judicial custody of the actor was slated to end on Tuesday itself.

Earlier, the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court decided to conduct remand proceedings through video conferencing from the jail. The special investigation team moved an application before the court on Monday citing security constraints for producing the actor before the court.

The police said there was need of heavy security to take the actor, who was currently lodged in Aluva Sub-Jail, to Angamaly court. The police submitted before the court that hundreds of people had been thronging the court and sub jail premises while Dileep was being taken to the court and they had a tough-time controlling the mostly hostile crowd.
