Fans throng to see Dileep’s release

ALUVA: Clad in a white shirt, like the character in his latest release ‘Ramleela’, Dileep came out of Aluva sub-jail with folded hands and waved to hundreds of fans. The excitement of the fans, who had been waiting in front of the prison gate for three hours reached a crescendo at that moment. 

After expressing his gratitude towards fans, Dileep left the jail premises along with his brother Anoop and lawyers in his car for his ancestral home at Paravoor Kavala, where he was received by mother Sarojam, wife Kavya Madhavan, daughter Meenakshi and other relatives. Actors Siddique and Nadirshah were also present.

With the breaking of news reports of bail for Dileep, his fans and local residents started heading to the Aluva sub-jail by around 2 pm. A few fans distributed sweets to those gathered there. According to fans, this it was a ‘big achievement of justice’ for Dileep who had been lodged in the jail for 86 days.
“This is definitely a victory for truth,” said actor Kalabhavan Ansar. “The success of ‘Ramleela’ movie itself depicted Dileep is innocent.” Actor Dharmajan Bolghatty also came to the jail premises.

Fans brought banners and  huge cutouts of the actor. “We are delighted. We all came here after hearing the reports that Dileepettan was granted bail,” said Riyas, a member of the Dileep Fans Association from Perumbavoor.Many women who claimed to be Dileep fans were also present to witness the release of the actor. Octogenarian Sakhavu Pathumma, a native of Aluva, said she had been waiting outside the jail to catch a glimpse of Dileep. “I tried to visit him many times, but I could not. I never saw any of of you during that time,” she said, criticising the media persons gathered there.

Rukhmini, another Aluva resident, said she expected Dileep would be released. “Finally it happened and I came here to witness the moment.”A few fans raised slogans against actor Prithviraj who had taken a stand against Dileep after he was jailed in the controversial actor assault case. The police had a tough time in trying to manage the crowd. A large posse was deployed under the supervision of Aluva DySP K B Prabhulla Chandran.Meanwhile, Anoop and Dileep’s lawyers reached the jail with the releasing order issued by the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court by 5.10 pm. Completing the proceedings, Dileep was out of jail by 5.25 pm.
