Kerala: Missing Lionel Messi fan Dinu Alex's body fished out of Meenachil waters

In a suicide note, which was found in his room, Alex had said he was upset with Argentina's defeat and was going to end his life.

KOTTAYAM: Two days on since Dinu Alex, 30, a diehard Lionel Messi fan from Arumanoor went missing in the Meenachil, the Fire and Rescue personnel on Sunday morning fished out his body from the river at Illikkal near Kottayam.

It was after a massive search by the Fire and Rescue personnel and people lasting around 50 hours Dinu’s body was recovered from the Illikkal bridge around 8 am.  After autopsy at the  Kottayam MCH, Dinu’s funeral was held at Mangalavartha Church in Arumanoor. He was a bachelor.

Dinu, son of P V Alexander, ‘Kottathil’, Arumanoor, is believed to killed himself apparently unable to digest the   South American side’s shock defeat at the hands of minnows Croatia.  According to  Alexander, Dinu had said before the start of the Argentina-Croatia game he will not be able to face people if Messi’s team ended up on the losing side. Chinnamma is Dinu’s mother and Divya, his sister.
