CUTTACK: The 16-day-old baby boy, who was snatched by a monkey while he was sleeping in the house at Talabasta Puta Sahi village, was found dead inside a well located at the backside of the house on Sunday.
As per reports, a woman who had gone to fetch water from the well found the baby’s body floating inside it. Later, she informed the locals who retrieved the body from the well. The infant might had slipped from the clutches of the monkey while the animal jumped from the roof of the house to nearby trees and dropped inside the well where he died.
On being informed, Banki police seized the body and sent to local hospital for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Later, irate locals staged dharna by placing the body of the infant in front of Talabasts Forest Beat House demanding adequate compensation and measures to check monkey menace in the locality.
