Won't allow anyone to ruin Tamil traditions like Jallikattu, says PM Modi

Modi said the DMK and Congress wanted to come to power to 'loot' people and alleged that the DMK was the 'biggest beneficiary' of the 2G Spectrum scam.

KANNIYAKUMARI: Speaking at the BJP party public meeting at Agastheeswaram near Kanniyakumari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that a wave had started from the South of Tamil Nadu which would travel for a long distance.

Saying that DMK was an enemy of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil language's tradition and culture, he said the party was blindly opposing our tradition. It also opposed people seeing Kumbabisekam during Ram temple consecration.

Modi added that the BJP was always in the forefront to safeguard Tamil's identity and pride. While Congress and DMK had banned Tamil traditional sports Jallikattu, the BJP has made efforts for the traditional Tamil sports to continue. "I would not allow anyone to act against Jallikattu and other Tamil traditions".

He said though Congress and DMK were the reasons for the sufferings of fisheries who had to go towards Sri Lanka for fishing, the BJP always supports fishers.

He said that he had started the Ekta yatra from Kanniyakumari in 1991 to Kashmir. But this time Kashmir to Kanniyakumari. The people in Kashmir out those who attempted to split the nation. Like that Tamil Nadu people would wipe out Congress and the DMK alliance and make an endpoint to their head weight on victory.

Modi said the DMK, Congress INDIA alliance could not take forward the development of Tamil Nadu. Their main aim was to plunder money by coming to power.nBJP implemented various schemes including optical fibre, 5G and Digital India. But, the INDIA alliance was waiting for swindling money.

After the BJP came to power in 2014, the BJP government implemented the pending Narikulam bride work, Thiruvananthapuram -Nagercoil road work, Marthandam, and Parvathipuram bridge work. DMK, Congress did not do railway doubling working for the last years. But the BJP started and the works would be completed soon. "We give prominence to port development in Tamil Nadu and laid the ground stone for container terminal in VOV port".

He noted that for the last 10 years, Rs 50 thousand crores highway works had been completed in Tamil Nadu while Rs Rs 70 thousand crores works were under progress. While the Congress and DMK alliance central government had allowed a few amount for railway projects, the BJP government has allocated Rs 6300 crore for railway infrastructure works in the state each year.
