HYDERABAD: Asserting that the stampede at Sandhya Theatre on December 4 was an accident, actor Allu Arjun on Saturday said that there was no fault on part of anyone. Responding to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s comments in the state Legislative Assembly earlier in the day over the stampede, the Pushpa 2 actor told reporters in the evening that there was a lot of misinformation to assassinate his character.
Claiming that he earned a good reputation, Allu Arjun said that false allegations were levelled against him over his behaviour at the theatre. He recalled that he visited the injured fans of Chiranjeevi and others in Vijayawada.
Speaking to reporters along with his father and film producer Allu Aravind, Arjun said that there was a lot of ‘wrong information’ and ‘misinformation’ and especially to assassinate his character. Reacting to the CM’s statement in Assembly over his behaviour with the police, Allu Arjun said that he would not use such language. “I am not an inhuman person and cannot use inhuman language,” the actor said.
“I make films to entertain people. If some people died when they went to watch films, I would feel that I am the most affected person,” he said.
Disputing the statement of the CM, Allu Arjuna said that when he was in the theatre to watch the movie, no police officer came to him and requested to leave the hall.
He also said that he greeted the people as the crowd would leave the area once they had a glimpse of him. He said that he waved his hands and later requested the people to leave the area, as suggested by the police and his personal security.
He claimed the next day after he left the theatre, he came to know that a person had died and another was hospitalised. “Then I called Bunny Vasu and checked about his health. When I asked him that I would also come to visit him, he asked me not to go to the hospital,” the actor said.
Allu Arjun said that the boy who is undergoing treatment is of the same age as his son. “How can I utter irresponsible words about him?” he questioned. He clarified that the theatre management had sought police permission when he wanted to watch Pushpa 2 in the theatre.
“The police were very much present there while I was entering the theatre and they cleared the crowd. No person gave me information that permission was not sanctioned. If I knew that permission was not given, I would have left the theatre,” he said.
