HC stays arrest of two accused of defamatory social media posts against Ram temple trust's Champat Rai
It asked the Uttar Pradesh government to file a counter-affidavit in the case and issued notice to Rai's brother Sanjay Bansal who had lodged a complaint against the two men.
The plea in this regard was filed in the Faizabad District Court by Shiv Sena leader Santosh Dubey and Shankracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand of Varanasi.
Rai, and his family members were accused in a Facebook post by noted journalist Vineet Narain of being involved in usurping 20,000 square meters of land of a cow shelter.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said the temple is being built using donations made by people and their hard-earned money should not be misused.
The Congress on Sunday alleged that scams are happening by taking donations in the name of Lord Ram after two opposition leaders accused Champat Rai of buying a piece of land at an inflated price.
