The death toll due to Dengue reached seven on Monday after the death review committee confirmed two more fatalities caused by the Mosquito-borne disease.
All deaths were recorded between September and November when the disease is considered to be at its peak, showed the report shared by MCD.
The surveillance and prevention control report also highlighted that measures would be undertaken for the control of dengue/dengue haemorrhagic fever.
Vellore logged a total of four dengue cases, and 273 fever cases since October 2022. In December alone, the district reported 51 fever cases, and one dengue infection.
CMCH Dean Dr A Nirmala said the infection is not severe this year, unlike previous rainy seasons, adding that all three patients are stable.
In a statement, Health Minister Veena George said other districts should also be cautious.
However, the West Bengal government, pointing to glitches in the Centre’s website, claimed that it has been sharing information.
The state government is yet to publish the total number of deaths caused by dengue this season.
Between November 1 and 5, Assam recorded 285 dengue cases, 271 of them in Karbi Anglong alone.
Kerala has been witnessing an increase in dengue fever cases this year, with 3,521 confirmed cases and 24 deaths recorded in the past 10 months.
A release by the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, said that out of 285 dengue cases detected in the state between November 1 and 5, 271 were from Karbi Anglong district.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Saturday intensified fogging drive to control the spread of the disease.
The HC also commented on the media that it was under-reporting the dengue menace that has caught every other family in the city.
Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr G Sriramulu flagged off 12 auto vehicles to raise dengue and chikungunya awareness on Wednesday.
The 1,238 cases, recorded till October 26, is more than half of the total number of cases of dengue logged this year.
The hospital has treated more than 500 dengue patients in the last three months.
A survey was conducted in more than 79 lakh houses in the state for dengue larvae and efforts were constantly underway to eliminate mosquitoes (aedes aegypti), he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday said the government is monitoring the data and stressed that cases are rising but there have been no fatalities.
The city has also recorded 194 cases of malaria and 38 cases of chikungunya in 2022, the report said. The dengue infection tally had stood at 1,572 till October 12.
The dengue situation in Coimbatore is not alarming at the moment, Deputy Director of Health Services P Aruna said on Tuesday.
