Goan writer Damodar Mauzo gets Jnanpith Award

Mauzo's famous novel 'Karmelin', published in 1981, received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1983. It has been translated in Hindi, Marathi, English, Punjabi, Sindhi, Tamil, Odia and Maithili languages.

Author of several collections of poetry, his principal works, includes  'Phuli Thoka Suryamukhi Phulor Phale' (To a Sunflower in bloom), 'Golapi Jamur Lagna' (The Raspberry Moment), 'Kobita' (Poems).
