MP government orders FIR against Gujarat-based firm over death of its two staffers while measuring manhole depth
A primary inquiry by Bhopal civic commissioner revealed the incident took place on Monday due to lack of safety standards by the construction company, said an official statement.
Meanwhile, the Engineering Wing of the GHMC, which dug the stormwater drain upto 100 metres to trace the body and stopped the works, will be taking up restoration work of the drain from Monday.
The suspensions were based on the preliminary information and completion of the detailed inquiry.
The police have filed a case against contractor B Yellaiah under the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 and 304 A (Causing death by negligence) of IPC.
The body of one worker Shiva, 25, has been pulled out of the manhole while the rescuers could not locate the other worker Anjaiah.
