Sikkim sees record tourist footfall, CM Prem Singh Tamang urges people not to travel amid landslides
Over 22,000 domestic tourists and 651 foreign travellers visited the state over the last week, Tourism Department officials said.
The chief minister also urged the people to not undertake unnecessary travel out of Sikkim and strictly abide by COVID-19 appropriate behaviour in order to keep the disease at bay.
In addition to the night curfew to be imposed after 10 pm, it has been decided to close restaurants, bars, discos, pubs and gyms at 10 pm throughout the state.
Tamang was found guilty of misappropriation of government funds in a cow distribution scheme while he was the minister of animal husbandry in the 1990s.
