In a tweet, Nath said the ruling BJP has brought down the age of retirement of Class-IV employees from 62 years to 60 years, prompting the BJP government to issue a clarification about it.
"We are of the view that such extension of service in favour of those government servants would not absolve their delinquency," observed the bench
The last time retirement age was increased was under MG Ramachandran’s regime in 1979, when it went up from 55 to 58.
Some of India’s domestic umpires are set to approach the BCCI with a demand to increase their retirement age from 55 to 60.
It also increased by one year the retirement age of professors in the BMC-run medical colleges temporarily.
