NEW DELHI: Crucial case files and trial court documents linked to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks have been transferred from Mumbai to Delhi’s special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court, sources confirmed.

The documents have been received by the court staff working under District Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav. This follows Judge Yadav’s directive issued in January, mandating that all original trial records pertaining to the 2008 attacks be relocated to the national capital.

The NIA, after placing Tahawwur Rana, a 64-year-old Canadian national of Pakistani origin and one of the key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, under arrest from Palam airport. NIA is likely to seek Rana's custody for interrogation.

Meanwhile, New Delhi Bar Association of Patiala House Court has issues a press statement ensuring that there will be no disruption of law and order

“Our Bar Association will ensure that there should not be any disruption of law and order within the complex or disturbance in the judicial proceedings. As we are cautious of the seriousness and gravity of the case. This issue is directly involved with the integrity of our country, hence as the office bearers of New Delhi Bar Association, our Executive committee is committed to ensure fair and transparent proceedings abiding the law of our country," it said.

US Supreme Court rejects 26/11 accused Tahawwur Rana’s plea seeking stay on extradition to India

Rana’s extradition from the US marks a watershed moment in India’s 17-year campaign for justice. His role in facilitating the Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives by using his immigration firm as a front had long made him a wanted figure by Indian security agencies. Despite his conviction in the US on separate terror charges, India persisted with its request, citing his direct involvement in the planning stages of 26/11.

According to intelligence inputs, Rana had visited several Indian cities, including Delhi, Hapur, Agra, Kochi, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai, with his wife Samraz Rana Akhtar in the days leading up to the November 2008 attacks. These visits, investigators believe, were not tourist excursions but part of a larger reconnaissance mission tied to the planned carnage.
