A week ago, she had said that neither of Anand Kumar's sons, Akash and Ishan, would be allowed to hold any post in the BSP amid an ongoing family tussle.
Mayawati said Anand’s failure to repost her earlier message showed his attachment to family over the party, while calling Siddharth’s retirement a correct but belated step.
Mayawati clarified that Siddharth had given priority to his personal and family ambitions over the party's mission. The direct consequence, she said, was that Akash was bearing the brunt.
Justifying her action, Mayawati said Akash still needed to become more mature and that it would not be appropriate to give him a major responsibility in the party.
Akash was expelled from the party on March 3, which resulted in his removal from the post of BSP national coordinator and as Mayawati’s successor in the party.
