Former CPM leader G Sudhakaran endorsed Isaac’s remarks on the condition of the party, saying it was the first time he had heard the former finance minister speak so frankly about its shortcomings.
National League and PDP, aligned with CPM, said religious scholars can issue guidance on faith matters and should not be dragged into political controversies.
Binoy refrained from making any direct criticism against CPM leaders, though senior leaders including C N Mohanan and V Sivankutty had targeted the CPI.
CPM leaders, including Central Committee member K K Shailaja, All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) leader C S Sujatha and SFI state secretary P S Sanjeev have come out against it.
