DCW functioning with minimal staff as key posts remain vacant more than two years after Swati Maliwal’s exit

Sources said in May last year, the women and child development department of the Delhi government ordered the removal of over 200 contractual staffers over irregularities in the hiring process.

The DCW, in an order on Monday, discontinued the services of all its contractual staff with immediate effect.

The case was initiated following a complaint lodged by former DCW chairperson and BJP MLA Barkha Shukla Singh.

The high court’s directive follows a plea by 49 contractual workers whose services were terminated by an April 29 order of the Delhi government.

The termination has been carried out on the basis of a report submitted by a committee way back in June, 2017.
