The Principal District and Sessions Court granted bail in connection with the Dharmasthala mass burial case, ordering his release on the execution of a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh with two sureties.
An officer associated with the investigation, on the condition of anonymity, stated that the court may approach another court or take this report as a chargesheet and initiate action.
The petitioners had prayed to quash the FIR, which was registered in Belthangady and transferred to the Special Investigation Team later, and also challenged the notices issued to them by the SIT.
The Dharmasthala mass burial case hit the national headlines in July on the embers of the yet-to-be-solved rape and murder case of a 17-year-old Soujanya in October 2012 at Ujire in DK district.
The SIT had issued them notices after they had made several statements in support of the temple administration and also alleged burials in Dharmasthala village.
