With rains forecast for Sunday, residents have been advised to remain indoors, avoid taking shelter under trees, stay away from weak structures and unplug electrical appliances during thunderstorms.
While East and Northeast India are projected to receive normal rainfall, the rest of the country is anticipated to see below-normal precipitation during the June-September period.

IMD director Neetha K Gopal said a cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep was currently affecting the strengthening of westerly winds essential for monsoon onset.
IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said the south-west monsoon has covered Andaman Nicobar Islands, Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea and surrounding areas.
