As per the bail conditions, both were directed to furnish sureties within 15 days and appear before the investigating officer at the Triplicane police station every morning and evening.
Senior counsel NR Elango, appearing for the petitioners, submitted that the police have been trying to implicate the brothers in the case and so protection shall be given to them.
According to sources, the letter was sent on Tuesday in response to a summons issued by the Triplicane police directing the former minister to appear for an inquiry.
Balaji argued that he is not named as an accused in the FIR, and that his implication in the case comes not from any fact stated in the FIR but from a subsequent political extension of its narrative.
