AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Friday said the alliance led by his party would take shape by March 9 and the candidate list will be released the next day.
Sasikala, who was expelled from the AIADMK in 2011 by Jayalalithaa and reinstated within 100 days, appears to be buying time till the election verdict is out.
While Congress claims all is well within the alliance, the delay in Rahul Gandhi, who has visited the State several times since January, sharing a dais with MK Stalin has raised a few eyebrows.
The combined Vellore district was trifurcated in 2019 to create Tirupattur and Ranipet districts. All the 13 Assembly segments were shared among the three districts.
On the occasion of Jayalalithaa’s birth anniversary, AIADMK cadre raised their party flags near the statue and later, AMMK cadre placed longer flag poles at the spot.
The men were identified as Thomas (28) and Suriya (28) from Mysore Road in Bengaluru, and Amreesh (21) from Gowthamapettai in Tirupattur.
A DMK cadre, Thangavel, won the Panchayat Union Chairperson post by securing nine of the 16 votes in the indirect election held here on Monday for the Periyakulam block.

The Madras High Court on Tuesday issued a notice the State Highway Department and a functionary of AMMK for installing a flagpole in a property belonging to late chief minister MGR.
Dhinakaran was answering the queries of the reporters here after accompanying Sasikala from Bengaluru to Chennai during her 23-hour travel.
The party has petitioned the state police chief to restrain non-members of the party from using its flag, days after she travelled in a car fitted with it in Bengaluru.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday in Madurai, Dhinakaran said that a grand reception will be given to Sasikala from Hosur on the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border all the way till Chennai
“Without Sasikala and her family, the affairs of AIADMK and the government are running smoothly.
In Bengaluru, AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran said the people of TN, office bearers and cadre of the AMMK have been awaiting her release eagerly. She will be given a rousing reception, he said.
Within AMMK, the allocation of a common symbol early is a respite from the increasing desertion of the party by many of its functionaries who were jumping to the AIADMK.
