An inmate died and three others sustained injuries in an alleged caste clash among prisoners at the Central Prison in Palayamkottai in Tirunelveli on Thursday evening.
Police have booked the accused under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Pali SP Kalu Ram Rawat said.
On a complaint from the victim's mother, an FIR was registered against Rohit, Bhupendra and Tarun on charges of rape and under the SC/ST Act.
The woman identified as Tanu, a resident of Khurja Dehat Kotwali area, put out a video that has gone viral on social media.
