The blaze erupted at the chemical factory located in Sachin GIDC industrial area at around 2 am following an explosion in a large tank after leakage of inflammable chemicals stored in it.
"A gas cylinder exploded in a house, leading to the collapse of five two-storey structures," a civic official said.
The blast took place in front of the gates of an Army camp at Dirak on Wednesday evening, a police officer said. However, there was no report of any casualties.
