All roads in Delhi on Friday led to the Ramlila ground as thousands of farmers from across the country headed to the popular landmark demanding farm loan waivers and higher crop prices.

Over 200 farmers' body and other organisations participated in the march under the banner of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC).

The Opposition leaders who joined the rally at Jantar Mantar stepped up their attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government over the ongoing agrarian crisis.

Vowing to completely waive off the farm loan, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said, " If the loans of industrialists can be waived off, then the debt of farmers must be waived off as well. I assure the farmers of India, we are with you, don't feel afraid."

Accusing the Centre of "stabbing the farmers in the back," Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said Union government should implement the Swaminathan report in five months, otherwise, the farmers will show their might in the 2019 elections.

The agitating farmers marched to Parliament Street on Friday to protest against the “anti-farmer policies” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government and press for their demands, including debt relief and remunerative prices for their produce.

Banded under the AIKSCC, which claims to be an umbrella body of 207 organisations of farmers and agricultural workers, farmers from 24 states arrived in the city on Thursday, on trains, buses and other modes of transport.

Over 3,500 police personnel were deployed on the route of the march.
