The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into a truck parked along the roadside near Jakhani on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at around 5:00 AM.
The tight security arrangements have been put in place for the safe and smooth conduct of the yatra. The police, paramilitary personnel and army are providing security cover to the yatra convoys.
Over 4,800 pilgrims set off from Bhagwati Nagar base camp for the 57-day pilgrimage, with extensive multi-layer security, surveillance systems and convoy escorts deployed along twin routes.
The initiative reflects the commitment of Police towards leveraging modern technology and professional policing practices to provide a secure environment for all pilgrims.
