The report said the state’s revenue deficit worsened sharply. It rose from 1.60% in 2023-24 to 2.49% of GSDP in 2024-25. The national average was only 0.67%.
The judge also held that the earlier judgment cited by the petitioners did not bar the present proposal for a CAG audit. He held that the earlier case arose in a different factual and legal context.
The matter gains significance amid rising concerns over food adulteration, contamination, misleading labelling, and weak enforcement of food safety standards across the country.
